How to Make Wintergreen Candy

Ingredients

  • 1 cup golden syrup
  • a pinch of cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon wintergreen extract
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • a few drops of red food coloring

Instructions

  1. Add the golden syrup, sugar, and water to a saucepan. Stir while heating until the sugar is dissolved. Add cream of tartar and allow the mixture to reach 250°. Finally stir in the wintergreen extract and food coloring.
  2. Pour the mixture on a greased surface. Allow the candy to cool enough to handle.
  3. Pull candy until it is yellow in color. Roll out and cut into sticks. Wrap each stick in wax paper.
