How to Make Vinegar Candy
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon corn syrup
- 1 level teaspoon baking soda
- 3 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons boiling water
- 1/2 cup butter
Instructions
- Mix the butter, corn syrup, sugar, vinegar, and 1/2 cup of water together in a saucepan. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Heat up the mixture until it reaches 290°. Do not stir while heating.
- Take the 2 tablespoons of boiling water and mix them with the soda. Add this mixture plus the lemon juice to the saucepan. Cook for 2 additional minutes.
- Pour mixture onto a greased cookie sheet to cool. Pull candy into a long strip and cut into pieces.
