How to Make Salt Water Taffy
Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 5 tablespoons water
- a pinch of cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Mix sugar and water together in a saucepan. Add butter and heat mixture to 290°. Do not stir.
- Add vanilla extract and cream of tartar.
- Pour mixture onto a greased surface (a pan or cookie sheet will suffice).
- Let cool enough so that it can be handled. Pull taffy until it becomes white, then cut into pieces. Wrap each piece in wax paper.
