How to Make Peanut Brittle
Ingredients
- 4 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 2 cups salted peanuts
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Stir together sugar, water and cream of tartar in a heavy saucepan. Cook over medium heat without stirring until sugar dissolves. Add peanuts. Allow mixture to reach 300 degrees F on a candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat. Add butter, baking soda and salt; stir until well blended. Pour mixture onto a greased baking sheet. Allow to cool; break into medium-size pieces.
