How to Make Marshmallows
Ingredients
- 1 envelope granulated gelatin
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar
Instructions
- Soak gelatin for 5 minutes in 1/2 cup of the water.
- While allowing the gelatin to soak, add sugar and the remaining water to a heavy saucepain. Cook until the mixture reaches 240 degrees F on a candy thermometer. Add soaked gelatin and let stand until almost cool.
- Add vanilla and salt. Beat mixture until it thickens. Pour into pans dusted with powdered sugar. Allow to thoroughly cool. Cut into 1-inch cubes and roll in powdered sugar.
