How to Make Horehound Drops

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces dried horehound herb
  • 4 cups water
  • 6 cups brown sugar

Instructions

  1. In a heavy saucepan, cook horehound herb in water over medium heat. Boil for 10 minutes; strain.
  2. Pour strained water mixture back into the saucepan. Add brown sugar. Cook until it reaches 300 degrees F on a candy thermometer.
  3. Remove from heat. Spread mixture evenly onto a greased baking sheet. Cut into squares as the candy begins to harden.
