How to Make English Toffee


  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons weak vinegar
  • 1 cup nuts


  1. Heat butter, sugar and vinegar over medium heat. Cook until the mixture reaches 300-310 degrees F on a candy thermometer.
  2. Spread nuts evenly in a greased pan and pour mixture over them.
  3. Let cool, then cut into squares.
