How to Make Candied Orange Peel
Ingredients
- 4 oranges
- 4 cups sugar
- sugar for coating (optional)
- 4 cups water
- water for boiling the peel
Instructions
- Cut oranges in half and scoop out the inside of the peel. Cut the peel into strips about a 1/4 inch wide.
- Add the peel to a saucepan and cover with water. Cook until the water is near the boiling point. Pour off the water. Repeat this process twice more.
- Add the 4 cups of sugar and water to the peel and boil until no syrup shows when the saucepan is tilted to the side.
- Roll strips of peel in sugar if desired.
- Let dry.
