How to Make Candied Grapefruit Rind

Ingredients

  • 1 large grapefruit
  • sugar
  • water

Instructions

  1. Cut the grapefruit in half and scoop out the fruit. Slice the rind into strips about a 1/2 inch wide.
  2. Put rind into a sauce pan and cover with water. Boil for five minutes, then pour out water. Repeat this step three times.
  3. Add water to the saucepan for a fifth time along with some sugar. Use once cup of sugar for each cup of rind. Boil until the mixture becomes a syrup. Drain.
  4. Coat rind in sugar while it is still wet. (optional)
