How to Make Butterscotch
Ingredients
- 5 cups sugar
- 2/3 cup corn syrup
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon lemon extract
Instructions
- Mix sugar, corn syrup and water in a heavy saucepan over medium heat; bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low. Add butter; stir until melted. Increase heat to medium and cook until mixture reaches 300 degrees F on a candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat. Add lemon extract and blend well.
- Pour into a greased pan. When cool, cut into squares.
